Aspen Engagement Session Guide | Aspen Wedding Photographer

Breathtaking mountain views, delicious après-ski bistros, and a luxurious ski resort make Aspen one of my favorite places for romantic mountain engagement sessions in Colorado. I love capturing candid photos of couples in love, so when Lily and Hunter contacted me to capture their Aspen engagement session in the Colorado Rockies, I was thrilled! I can't wait for you to check out this beautiful couple’s evening in Aspen, along with my top engagement session tips as an Aspen Wedding Photographer below.

Lily and Hunter's Sunset Aspen Engagement Session

Lily and Hunter's engagement session was a beautiful way for the couple to celebrate their love with one another before their wedding day. As the Sun dipped below the mountains, casting a golden glow over the snow-covered landscape, Lily and Hunter's joy and affection for one another was overwhelmingly beautiful. They laughed, danced, and shared tender moments in a meadow of colorful flowers. Documenting this special time in the couple's lives was an honor. I know their future together will be as warm and beautiful as the Sunset was that evening. If you're looking to plan and experience an Aspen engagement session like Lily and Hunter, check out my Aspen engagement session tips below!

Aspen Engagement Session Tips From An Aspen Wedding Photographer

1. What are the best locations for an Aspen Engagement Session?

Some of my favorite engagement session locations as an Aspen Wedding Photographer include exploring Castle Creek, Hunter Creek Trail (if you're up for a pretty hike), Maroon Bells, and Snowmass or Aspen Mountain (AJAX)!

2. What's the best time of year for an Aspen Engagement Session?

The best time of year for an Aspen engagement is in the Summertime! June through September brings pleasant temperatures, blue skies, and colorful wildflower blooms. This is my favorite time of year to photograph couples in the Rockies as an Aspen Wedding Photographer!

3. What time of day is best for an Aspen engagement session?

Finding an Aspen Wedding Photographer who knows Aspen well will ensure your engagement session goes smoothly! Colorado photographers, like myself, learn the best time of day to take photos in the mountains, especially at Sunset. The Sun drops behind the mountains way before the actual sunset time and often varies by location. So, it's important to work with an expert to avoid missing out on the best lighting for your session.

4. Where should I eat and stay in Aspen?

Aspen is a foodie's dream! To start, you'll want to visit the White House Tavern. It's an upscale bar with delicious food and cocktails. Bosq is also an excellent choice for an elevated Michelin Star experience. Clark's Oyster Bar is great for seafood lovers and foodies, while Ajax Tavern is the best spot for après. Check out Big Wrap, Felix Roasting Co., or Unravel Coffee for more casual, down-to-earth dining spots! If you and your partner are brunch lovers, don't miss out on the Bear Den!

Regarding accommodations, it's no secret that Aspen has some pretty plush stays. The Limelight Hotel, St. Regis, and Aspen Meadows are a few of my favorite spots. I also love staying in Snowmass and highly recommend that you check out The Viceroy or The Viewline Resort

5. What is there to do around the Aspen area?

There are many things to do and see around Aspen, even outside of ski season! One of my favorite Summertime activities includes hiking up Ajax via the Ute Trail, getting a bowl of buffalo chili for lunch at the top of the mountain, and then riding the gondola down. If you're a sports lover, you can even watch a rugby game at Wagner Park!

When it comes to shopping, Aspen is top-tier. The luxe ski town has every designer store imaginable, from Prada to Ralph Lauren, Alo Yoga, Rag & Bone, and more! I also highly recommend visiting Kemo Sabe if you're searching for an iconic Aspen Western hat.
